More information

At the heart of EU research funding are the research framework programs, which provide funding over multi-year periods using a variety of instruments. The Research Framework Programme Horizon Europe, which has been running since 2021, offers a wide range of funding formats through open-topic and topic-specific calls for proposals for established researchers and early-career researchers, for basic and applied research, and for individual grants and collaborative projects. Detailed information about the programme can be found on the websites of the European Commission, the BMBF, and the National Contact Points. Current calls for proposals can be found on the Funding and Tenders Portal. In addition to the EU Research Framework Programmes, there are funding opportunities in collaboration with national funding agencies or industry as additional sources of funding. You can find an overview of current calls for proposals that do not appear in the Horizon Europe work programme on the platform ERA LEARN.
There is also the opportunity to serve as an expert in the evaluation of EU projects. The role involves the technical evaluation of project proposals within the framework of European funding programs. In addition to financial compensation, this offers many other strategic advantages:
- In-depth insight into successful proposals and evaluation criteria
- Improved success rates for your own proposals
- Networking at the European level
- Up-to-date overview of research trends and policy priorities
- Building a reputation and visibility at the European level
