The Nagoya Protocol is an international agreement that regulates access to genetic resources and aims to ensure that countries providing these resources share fairly in the benefits arising from their use. It is based on two key principles: access to genetic resources and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits. These aspects need to be considered before research involving relevant genetic resources begins.
If you work with genetic resources, it is therefore important to determine whether the Nagoya Protocol applies to your activities and to understand which requirements and obligations may need to be fulfilled before starting your research.
In this presentation, we will address three key questions:
- What exactly is the Nagoya Protocol?
- Which materials and activities fall under the Nagoya Protocol?
- How is the Nagoya Protocol implemented in practice?
By the end of this presentation, you will be able to identify potentially relevant cases and understand which steps to take to support compliance with the applicable requirements.
This training is presented by Dr. Stefanie Tadros, Manager Patents & Licensing at PROvendis GmbH.
Target group: postdocs and professors
Time & date: 17.11.2026, 12 pm - 1:15 pm
